With the chassis done, I needed to build an actual coach body. And I didn’t have a clue how to do it. I was just hoping that there was someone close by that did. So, the search began.
There was no internet in those days, so it required a lot of phoning around and leg work. After calling I don’t know how many people, someone said there was a small outfit in Abbotsford that might be able to help me. I gave them a call and they said to come on in and let’s see what we can do.
Ron Carstensen and his son Lex (they’ve grown a bit since then) were from a family of RV builders. They were more than happy to look into the project and I gave them the dimensions, and what I wanted it to look like when done and asked them to prepare a quote.
A few days later they called and had a design and a quote ready. It was exactly what I wanted and the price was right at $50,000.
I drove the truck there in the rain and they got right to work.
