Last summer we had a forest fire that swept through our valley. It was fast and the majority of the destruction was done within the first 24 hours. Some of our neighbours lost everything, some lost a few out buildings, and some of us were spared completely. My homestead was completely untouched, and I can only give God the credit, and the glory, for sparing it.
What was a disaster for so many has now become a blessing for others in the form of the mighty Fire Morel mushrooms that are popping up everywhere!
Behold the morel mushroom! Even the worst devastation brings a blessing.
It’s like walking around the forest and picking up money…
And, since there were no buyers in the area, I’m doing it. Cool story, lol…
When the morels started to pop, I got to work harvesting them. But since there were no buyers, I started to dry them. Then a hydraulic line on one of my machines needed to be replaced, so, I went to town to get a new one. While I was talking to the guy making the new hose, he asked me what I was doing, and I told him, “Picking morels, but there’s no one to buy them”. He told me about his fishing buddy, who owns a mushroom processing business. I gave him a call and he said to bring what I had.
He bought everything I had, for a good price, and then asked me if I was interested in being a buyer. Well, sure! So, that’s why my blog posts have been rather sparse lately. Between picking and buying and delivering them, time hasn’t been my friend.
What’s next? Only God knows. But it’s going to be good!
