When the power goes out, I call me.
After a unusually warm winter so far, we are having a bit of a cold snap. And with it comes frazil ice and the plugging up of my coanda screen, which stops the water from flowing through the penstock, which stops the turbine and the water to the house, which stops electricity to the house. So, it was time to trudge through the snow up to the intake and scrape it off. Oh joy…
As you can see, frazil ice sucks! But it does help to keep me in shape. Hiking the 750ft from the house, uphill, to the intake a few times a day, and night, definitely gets the heart pumping.
