Playing with Real Trucks Pt. 6

This was it, the big day had finally arrived, my old Kenworth was going to turn black. I’d kind of grown accustomed to the primer grey but it wasn’t going to be grey for much longer.

A little bit more sanding, and checking all of the masking, and it was time.

Bill the body man knew his stuff. He did his magic and coat after coat the old truck slowly turned black and shiny. Man, I wish I still had all of those pictures…

All done and nothing left to do but wait for the paint to set and dry, so we went to the pub for lunch and a beer or three. Yeah, it was Sunday, I’m sure God will overlook my un-Sabbatarian ways back then.

A few hours later we came back to check on it. It was perfect. No runs. Tacked up nicely. So, back to the pub.

The next day was like Christmas for me. I couldn’t wait to start putting it all back together and seeing it shine in the sun. First things first, the masking all had to be removed. What a tedious job but it was like unwrapping a big present. Soon it was done, and now it was time to start putting all of the bits and pieces back on.

Out of the body shop and ready to hit the road.
